Catching Up with One Another

Can you believe winter season is almost over? Where has this year gone? It has whizzed by.

I’ve been busy with a new job, perhaps as many of you.

I waited a very long time to secure this position, and want to do well, and display my value to the organization. Not long after I began, I learned my need for arthroscopic knee surgery! Not too bad, I just allowed…

Pharma's High Number of January Layoffs Driven by a Handful of Companies

Some numbers released a few days ago by Challenger Gray & Christmas illustrate just how much the pharmaceutical industry is relying on layoffs to weather the challenges wrought by the patent cliff and other factors. Pharma companies last month announced plans to cut a total 4,071 jobs—nearly double the 2,090 layoffs announced in…

The Strategic CAREER Hunt For The Employed

I was struck the past couple of weeks by currently employed people, with no fear of an impending layoff, responding to a few of the jobs I had posted.  There was nothing wrong with the jobs, but there was a whole lot wrong with why THEY would be interested in them!  In fact, as they shared with me the other company names and jobs they were in process with, I could only ask,…

Building A Successful Portfolio Similar To Building A Winning Football Team

Recently I received a question on Seeking Alpha on how to determine which stocks to sell from my portfolio. My answer to that question was:

“I stay 100% invested in 30 DG stocks. Before I can buy a new one, I need to sell an old one. If the new stock is fundamentally better than one of my current stocks, I sell the one to buy the other. Many times the new one cannot displace an old one, so I don't do anything. All the stocks compete to stay in my roster, but I…

Is Your Email Address Showing YOUR Age? Get Hip With It!

I was going through a number of resumes this past week and I started to laugh at some of the email addresses.  Why? Because some of them just shout, "Hello there, I am really old and out of it and still driving a horse and buggy too!" I have been meaning to write a short Blog on this now for a few years, but due to newer, cooler email addresses that have been growing popular,…

Medical Sales 21 First Interview Questions, do you have the answers?

I am often asked by sales people what are example interview questions that they may be asked during the interview process. I often tell them that it depends on whether it is the first interview, second interview & etc. (Sales Managers who are interviewing for a job get a whole other list of questions!). Happy New Year from a Man That Lost "Almost Everything" in 2011 but then found....

I made a few calls out this week to some people I have gotten to know either from my working past or from people I have placed in jobs this past year or those that I conducted some career consults.  Some I had placed in six figure jobs after a long term of unemployment, some were still unemployed and a few others did find jobs but were greatly UNDER-EMPLOYED.  I was calling to see how they were doing and to wish them a Happy New Year.  If there is a Group that needed a Happy New Year call it…

Taking Advantage Of Volatility - A Diversification Opportunity For Dividend Growth Investors

Dividend Growth Investing is a very conservative method of investing your portfolio into a group of stocks that have steady growth with increasing dividends over the long run. By investing in these steady stocks with increasing dividends, your annual income increases every year. It is a very successful strategy for many investors who are building a revenue stream to live on during their retirement. My portfolio is full of these steadily growing DG stocks and I highly recommend investors of…

Out With The New And In With The Old

One of our great American traditions is making New Year’s resolutions. Mankind throughout history strives to be better, and it especially is true in business. If you have had a bad year, you definitely want to make changes so that the next year is better. If you have had a good year, you still want to make the next year better. Those in business as well as good parents/citizens want to leave their children/others a better world than they started with.

Introspection can be a wonderful…

Or… is it? Holiday celebrations arrive whether we are ready or not. Even when we are unhappy or conflicted, those around us seem to be ok, right?  I saw the message below on my facebook page, and asked my friend Donna if I might share it with you. I hope it speaks to you as it did to me.   Anita Onarecker

Coca-Cola: A Dividend Investor's Perspective

In the Seeking Alpha article, "Coca-Cola: An Objective Dividend and Growth Story,” the author attempts to present a case that investing in KO since its high point in September 1998 was not successful.

Had an individual been unlucky enough to buy the stock at the high in 1998, I am…

Three Words Of Christmas

What three words would you use to describe Christmas?  Lights, tinsel, snow? Love, children, gifts? You think a minute about your three words.

According to the Bible, the three words of Christmas are God with us – Immanuel.

Christmas is about God who left all that Heaven is to live within human limitations. Jesus…

Thank God! American Airlines Honoring Frequent Flyier Points!

I have TONS of them and I think I can fly 8 people to Europe and back on my points!  I no longer travel like I use to when I was in the industry, so I really covet those old points that renew each year with purchases.  Many of you in the medical sales industry are still plugging away on frequent flyier points from all the many miles you book each week or this is a BIG DEAL to your perks..right?

Here is the letter they sent me and if you did not get yours..enjoy…
