Blog Byte: December 20, 2010 Outplacement Requests (Downsizings) All Industries

Many of you in the Group were interested in the post last month on the Monthly All Industry Wide Request for Outplacement Services. As most of you know, that means a company has announced a downsizing and they are providing Outplacement for their employees who will be cut. Yes, these are the same Outplacement firms that our Medical Sales Industry Uses too and also explains why resumes from Outplacement Services are not geared to our industry! You can read my earlier article off that link provided.

 

Outplacement Request for the following companies (as of December, 20th 2010)

 

BAE Systems plc

|

Aerospace & Defense Parts Manufacturing

Defense contractor BAE Systems will eliminate 1,300 jobs across seven UK locations in response to the British government terminating aircraft programs to cut defense spending. There have been numerous rounds of staff reductions at BAE Systems this year.

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment

|

Amusement Parks & Arcades

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, which operates SeaWorld and Busch Gardens, will eliminate approximately 350 jobs, including 129 in Orlando, Fla., where the company is headquartered. SeaWorld is restructuring in response to a decline in attendance and profits.

Construction, Mining & Other Heavy Equipment Manufacturing

Harsco Corp., a diversified industrial services company, will restructure in order to reduce costs. The company, based in Harrisburg, Pa., will cut 800 jobs worldwide as it consolidates or closes locations and examines product lines.

Fast-Food and Quick-Service Restaurants

Fast-food chain Burger King will cut 413 corporate jobs and field positions in connection with reorganizing its North America and Latin America business units. The company, which was taken private earlier this year, has been impacted by reduced consumer spending during the recession.
