My Medical Device Sales Career

How To Hunt Down The Medical Sales Recruiters Working the Job YOU WANT!

I have written several earlier articles on the best way to apply for a job when you find it on line and you know, from reading the article, that you must find a great outside recruiter who is working the job directly with the hiring manager vs. applying directly to a hiring companies resume data base dump. So the question becomes, how does one determine this?

First of all, the best approach is working the Aggregate Job Board; again, an earlier article really details out (with graphics) how to find all the jobs using the Aggregate Board, now I will detail how to use it to figure out the hiring company and the recruiters who are probably posting the very same job. Why? It is the first step for you to determine WHICH Recruiter will best represent YOU in your job search!

If you know what type of job or better, the name of company you would like to work for, then you have everything you need to see what jobs are in your backyard and see ALL the recruiters working it. Once you find out that, you can determine which one would represent you the best (like everything else, not all recruiters are created equally…well, at least not talent wise, so why pick a stinky one…or worse, apply directly to a hiring companies data dump, I mean resume data base?).

So let’s start by finding out what jobs are in your area; let’s use an easy example and of course, slanted toward using me as your recruiter! Hey, the article is free, why not self promote!

Back to basics;

1. you go to my link on this site (I am an affiliate of

2. Let’s say that you know you want to work for Medtronic in San Diego, so you put in the key words in the box provided on our site as follows (you can put in generic key words too, like medical device sales and etc. to do the same thing, as you will see later):

4. Again, you hopefully read my earlier article and you first want to see what independent recruiter or recruiters are working that job; so you go back to the box and put generic terms of that job: In this example: I put in the KEY WORDS, Diabetes Sales Device, LOCATION; San Diego, CA

5. The below pops up; imagine, Linda Hertz Group has that job and look, you can see Medtronic Listed too…keep going and you will see other recruiters mentioned on other pages as you move forward. There will always be “other” non-related jobs to Medtronic (as seen in this example), so skip over them or maybe you find something better to hunt down!

Now I think that is downright cool! You can also use this same technique on MedReps or any job board to find the hiring company and the Independent Recruiters who are all running over each other trying to find YOU, for the same job, that is if you are GOOD (:

The last great tip is to marry up this technique between two boards! Use our affiliated on our website to do the exercise above and then go to a common board that many recruiters use and yes, you see the same darn job posted over and over by many recruiters (especially Medtronic Jobs) and YOU decide WHICH recruiter you are going to contact FIRST to represent YOU. How is that for the tail wagging the dog?

Of course, the second segment of this series will take you to the next critical step; how to determine which recruiter will best represent you to the hiring company? When written I will activate the link to that article.

For now, play around with the above technique and enjoy the wealth of information you uncover!

Happy Job and Recruiter Hunting!
