Perhaps you are familiar with Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will make your paths straight. NASB
Have you ever thought about what this really means? I find these verses to be my challenge as well as my hope. Let me share what I mean.
God says trust. It doesn’t say if you feel like it, or when it’s convenient. This implied command requires an action: obedience. So, it’s important to understand what He means. When someone trusts he or she is confident, feeling safe and secure, and—free from care. This means someone else has responsibility for you. That may be a strange concept when you feel completely responsible for your wellbeing, however, God says: trust.
Do you know Him enough to feel confident and safe with Him? Do you know He is conscientious in caring for you?
Trust is also something you do! It suggests there is something or someone you count on; it is a confidence that gives you security and safety, knowing that someone else will take good care of you and what concerns you. So many people feel there is no one to count on; that the only security is in what YOU can accomplish or do. God of the Bible says differently – he says you can depend upon him.
Do you believe this today? Review the meanings of trust—does this describe you and your relationship with our Father, God? Ask Him to stir up your trust today, and place your cares on Him, for HE cares for you!
