My Medical Device Sales Career

Who is the most neglected person in your home?  It may be you! Do you think, “My life seems full of demands others know little about!” Is this true of you? Do you privately ask or wonder - - Where can I find time for refreshing?  When will life ever be quiet?

Peace is often a foreign phrase in the busy, chaos of life.  Families seek balance as they juggle children’s needs and schedules, and demands of professional careers and life in general. Perhaps you face private pressures that others know little about—things that you hesitate to even voice for fear of its truth.

I offer this encouragement from the New Testament, from Philippians 4:7, “and the peace of God, which transcends all our powers of thought, will be a garrison to guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

This captured my attention as I understood the original words and meaning. It means God’s peace will stand like a guard—like a big burly guard, right at the door of my life, guarding what assails me! This guard stands firm with a “No Trespassing” sign! Revered poet, Harriet Beecher Stowe, writes about the peace of God, saying: no rude storm, how fierce soe’er it flieth, disturbs the soul that dwells, O Lord, in Thee.”1

When we feel pressured and conflicted, it helps to assert that awesome boundary enforcer, the burly-guard of God’s peace! Take your thoughts back to the guard always on duty. This boundary guard is the security gate through which everything must pass. For anything to reach your mind, heart and all things that affect you, [demands, pressures, decisions and ideas] it must be cleared through this boundary guard.

  • When schedules are crazy, and demands are high - - run behind that door where God’s peace stands guard. He will provide that quiet place where no one can disturb.
  • The Lord knows your demands are unique, but He also promised to be the guard of your peace.
  • You are not a slave to the tyranny of the urgent! Relax a bit; recall that God provides the peace AND the guard at the door!
  • What might the boundary guard look like in real life? It could be your spouse, your friend, or your small group of Christians.
  • It may be a family member who loves you deeply, who hurts when you hurt, and who rejoices with each spiritual victory.
  • It may be an through an unexpected contact that exactly meets your need today.

God provides peace and proof of His presence.   Do you SEE His peace today?  Look around, open your eyes, and thank Him for this wonderful gift of peace.
